A.W. Pink said, "If lustful looking be so grievous a sin, then those who dress and expose themselves...are not less, but even more guilty."
Whatever you do that requires you to abandon Godly, holy manners of behavior or dress is wrong. It is more important to please God than men.
Your body belongs to God. Represent HIM, not sports, sex, rock stars, movies, undignified, unholy, profane lifestyles. Represent JESUS 24/7.
The WORLD doesn't care if a Christian is modest. They are happy if you are not. But God wants you to be modest. You owe it to your Creator.
The WORLD does not WANT Christians to be modest; it LOVES to see Christians profane themselves. DEFY the world. Be pure, holy, godly, virtuous.
A Christian cannot prove it necessary to expose
bare shoulders, bare midriff or bare thighs. Immodesty is contrary to
Godliness or holiness.
There has never been a generation of Christians before now who considered bare shoulders or bare thighs on a woman to be modest. Cover up.For MILLENNIA of time, the protocols of modesty have dictated that a woman be covered to at least below the knee. Only in our time has that standard been abandoned.
The Prophet Isaiah defined NAKEDNESS to include bare legs and uncovered thighs. Godly women should NOT expose bare legs and thighs.
"...make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, ...Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen," Isaiah 47:2-3.
That verse alone would totally EXCLUDE and condemn all short dresses and shorts on women, AND shorts on MEN!
That verse alone would totally EXCLUDE and condemn all short dresses and shorts on women, AND shorts on MEN!
If God wants us to dress, act, talk, live certain ways, SO BE IT! His Word governs hair, apparel, right/wrong friendships, more. Just DO IT.
Satan knows you are a billboard. Do you? What does your body advertise; the holiness of Jesus, or cheap, worldly, perishing fads and fashions?
Don't ask the world to define modesty. Nothing is immodest anymore. Nobody objects to anything. Christians MUST learn modesty from the Bible.
Christians who refuse to dress in fashions that are not clearly modest and dignified tell the world that they are not beholden to it.
A CHRISTIAN'S WARDROBE should not say "I'm a slob" "I have no self-respect" "I'm an exhibitionist" "Rock-Star Groupie," but "I AM CHRIST'S."
If we yield to popular fashion, it is inevitable that modesty and gender specificity will soon vanish, along with all semblance of holiness.
McDonald's employees cannot wear Taco Bell uniforms to work. God forbids His saints to wear the world's unholy fashions.
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God," Romans 12:2.
"As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance," 1 Peter 1:14.
"...the fashion of this world passeth away," 1 Corinthians 7:31.
A Christian's REJECTION of worldly things is one of God's ordained witnesses to the world that saints value His Kingdom more than the world.
Christians should use every opportunity to bear witness of the Truth of Jesus Christ. This is no time to be ashamed of Him, but to be bold.
