A Word About Prophecy Boneheads

Ignorance is Blindness
I just heard Robert Morris, pastor of 36,000 people in Dallas/Fort Worth, preach that the rapture doctrine is only 150 years old, and that we should not concern ourselves with prophecy teachings; that they are effectively unknowable.

Tragically, he is only one of a majority of all "Christian" leaders who do not want to discuss Bible prophecies for the last days - and who indeed know virtually nothing whatsoever about Bible prophecies. It is a damnable situation, in which the voices leading hundreds of millions of so-called "believers" really don't believe at all.

"Knowing this first, that THERE SHALL COME IN THE LAST DAYS SCOFFERS, walking after their own lusts, And saying, WHERE IS THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING? for since the fathers fell asleep, ALL THINGS CONTINUE AS THEY WERE from the beginning of the creation.

For this THEY ARE WILLINGLY IGNORANT OF, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby THE WORLD THAT THEN WAS, being overflowed with water, PERISHED: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, BY THE SAME WORD kept in store, RESERVED UNTO FIRE against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men," 2 Peter 3:3-7 KJV.

It is gargantuan PRIDE and suffocating PRESUMPTION that prompts ANY PREACHER to determine that Bible prophecies are laughable, indiscernible, unreliable, and should not be wrestled with. The title of this piece infers that they are BONEHEADS. But it is much more serious than that. They are willfully ignorant. They have turned off their hearts and minds to the prophecies of scriptures. They have chosen to ignore or minimize the entire field of Bible prophecies for the last days, and to insult or discredit those who do.

The Book of Revelation has become a comic book for most modern Christians. They perceive it to be a cartoon that is to be laughed about and mocked. Those who actually take the Book of Revelation seriously are scorned, discredited and demeaned as fools, idiots, peddlers of confusion, fear-mongerers, troublemakers, and other invective epithets.

I have news for all the prophecy detractors. You have NO BASIS and NO LEGITIMACY in twisting and turning the priorities of the Gospel to fit your personal preferences. You have no authority to place higher priorities on your favorite Bible themes while virtually tearing other themes right out of the Bible and tossing them into the trash heap.

I am personally sick and tired of being relegated to the fringe because I teach and preach prophecy. I am not solely a prophecy preacher. Every day of my life, I preach and teach the scriptures in a well-rounded and comprehensive way. I preach everything I can find in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. I try my best to preach every vice and every virtue that I find defined in the Bible. I am not a narrow-minded, one-horse show.

But one thing I know, from writing almost 5000 sequential Bible lessons from Genesis to Revelation: there are THOUSANDS of prophetic scriptures throughout the scriptures. I roughly estimate that there are about 3000 prophecies in the Bible that have already been fulfilled, and there are another 3000 prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. I am disgusted and appalled by all the irresponsible preachers who adamantly refuse to study Bible prophecies at any length, and categorically minimize the entire subject of Bible prophecies for the last days.

"ALL SCRIPTURE is given BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, and is PROFITABLE for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly FURNISHED UNTO ALL GOOD WORKS," 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV.

God has REASONS for giving us thousands of Bible prophecies. You may not fully know or understand all the reasons WHY God gave us those prophecies, but we are nevertheless obliged to preach everything the Bible says, whether or not we personally believe it is important. But we cannot preach what we do not know. And we cannot know what we do not study.

"STUDY [can I repeat that a few times??? STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY] to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth," 2 Timothy 2:15 KJV.

And finally, John the Revelator himself gives us a deadly warning against minimizing the Book of Revelation and prophecy teachings:

"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And IF ANY MAN SHALL TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THIS PROPHECY, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book," Revelation 22:18-19 KJV.

Don't you ever think or say that God does not intend for us to understand Bible prophecies!! Don't you believe that it is impossible to understand Bible prophecies. Nothing could be more absurd - or offensive to God - than to claim that His Word does not and cannot speak logically, rationally, understandably, and forcefully on these subjects. His Word IS UNDERSTANDABLE, and it is our task to find out what it says and what it means.

These ARE the last days. I will stake my entire life and reputation on what the Bible says, and knowing the signs that have already been fulfilled in my generation, Jesus said, "THIS GENERATION will not pass away until all these signs be fulfilled." THIS is the last generation. Jesus will return IN OUR DAY!

If you don't believe that, you need to take a year sabbatical and read your Bible all over again with an eye on prophecy. And after you LEARN what you need to know, you need to TEACH it, PREACH it, and PREPARE for it.
